In the Crosshairs

You could see this coming a mile away. It was their only remaining option. Not to mention after repeatedly disparaging more than half the country and wailing about the impending threat to democracy, it’s no wonder we ended up here.

https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/trump-rally-incident/card/one-trump-rally-attendee-killed-2QnYzzZt3im9NEsshRLO

Of course, the MSM initially reported that “loud noises were heard” and “Trump fell” at the rally.

Just about what you would expect from those that have been gaslighting everyone for years. Who still believes what they spew out?

Now, we await the identity of the (now) dead shooter, as well as their affiliations. For those dependent on the MSM, if it is negative, you will NOT hear anything more. If it is positive, they will amplify it to no end. Just another day in the life.

In the hours since, we learn that NOW we need to tamp down talk of retaliatory violence. But up to now, that’s been fair game with Mumbles declaring the need to “put Trump in the crosshairs”.

These people disgust me.

But for months, we’ve been told half that the country are MAGA terrorists, and that Trump is a psychopath worse than Hitler, who must be stopped at all costs to save our democracy – while his supporters are imprisoned at every opportunity.

Those accusations are never explained. They are just piled on and repeated over and over until you get reactions like this.

The fact that that this young woman would get on a public platform and say what she said proves that point. The Left has done a good job in demonizing President Trump and his supporters and now we clearly see the results.

They called him an illegitimate president.
They said he was a threat to democracy and had to be stopped.
They unleashed a legion of agents to investigate him, searched his home and broke historic barriers by indicting him.
Then they rigged a trial in a bid to put him in prison.
They called him un-American and worse. Their lawyers and activists fought to keep him off the fall ballots in a dozen blue states as a way — get this — to defend democracy.
They are still trying to bankrupt him and confiscate his businesses.
And now they have shot him.

One positive for the left is that this takes the heat off Mumbles in the news cycle.

A young, white male Republican, who was bullied in high school, fetishized guns (as evident by his t-shirt) and raised in a home by a man who owned an assault rifle (which Democrats have been trying to outlaw), and who likely consumed a lot of alt-right content (like the “news” you seem to favor) took a shot at the leading candidate of his own party—one that (notably) refuses to pass sensible gun legislation. This is the same party whose members send out Christmas cards of themselves and their children posing with guns, who celebrated Pelosi’s husband being assaulted, and who routinely make campaign ads featuring them shooting or blowing up things.

We’ll never know why he snapped and the fact that this kid had the decks stacked against him having a normal life is the real tragedy here. But there’s nothing about this situation that can be blamed on Democrats. The MAGA movement created this kid and Donald Trump has been inciting violence his entire life. Just look at all the MAGA cries for “civil war” after the shooting.

It also changes not one iota in the mind of an anti-Trump voter. We know which party is stoking the violence, division and dysfunction in this country, and we’re determined to defeat it via the ballot box.

You are just so far gone, bro. It’s like you’ve been snatched by aliens and reprogrammed–with the way you believe all this alt-right propaganda. It’s just really, really sad. I don’t expect you to publish these remarks, but out of affection for the person you used to be, I will continue to pray for you to embrace reality and keep trying to pull you away from the dark side.

Of course I will approve it. As Trump finally figured out, there’s no point in interfering when your opponent is shooting themselves in the foot. I’d offer a shovel but I know you’ll just keep on digging the hole deeper. The ridiculousness of your response speaks volumes and nothing I could add could make it any worse.

You have magically deduced this was a crazy kid messed up in a MAGA environment. I could ask how you arrived there but I know you never explain anything. You just continue to insult with general statements of your projections and anyone who questions is under the spell of “alt-right propaganda”.

I could ask how the party is stoking “violence, division and dysfunction”. I included a video montage of nonstop rhetoric from the left. But your superior intellect simply requires you to state it – without such references.

I could ask that you specify ONE SINGLE piece of alt-right propaganda that I have swallowed but you won’t. Meanwhile, I have flooded you with the many instances you have gotten wrong from your high horse and you continue to ignore it all in your vacuum.

Just keep it up. I’m not sure if you have any credibility left in the tank, but it doesn’t hurt to try and lose more.

    Okay, I’ll take your bait…

    1) That the shooter was a conservative/Republican – Multiple news articles mention this, but here’s a rather in-depth one from the BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3gw58wv4e9o

In addition, neighbors have mentioned the previous presence of Trump signage at the shooter’s home.

    2) “Stoking violence” – Here are a few dozen specific examples of violent rhetoric on the right: https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/july-14-2024?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=20533&post_id=146625618&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=4atk6&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

Just a week ago, GOP North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson was famously quoted saying, “Some folks need killing…” and he was a speaker again last night at the convention. And how about Trump’s J6 statement that you have to “fight like hell” or you’re not going to have a country anymore. What about all the “civil war” threats? You yourself said something to the effect of , “A lot of people thought there was going to be a civil war today” in one of your posts about border control. I assured you that no liberal I knew thought there was going to be a civil war–that’s the new GOP talking amongst themselves. Itching for an excuse to use those guns they worship.

    3) ONE SINGLE PIECE of alt-right propoganda that you believe… There are so many, I’ve literally lost count, but here are three biggies:
… That J6 was an inside job and the agitators were undercover FBI agents (i.e., that ridiculous video you had me watch).
… That the 2020 election was “stolen.”
… That Trump hasn’t been legitimately charged and found guilty of multiple felonies. That he’s the victim of political persecution vs. a criminal thug.

I really don’t know how you can say I have no credibility when nearly all legal experts and most rational Americans agree with me on this. Just look at the crazy @$$ people who make up today’s GOP: Marjorie Taylor Greene? JD Vance (who writes about his poor upbringing in Appalachia when he’s actually from a suburb of Cincinnati)? Don Jr.? Kid Rock? Elon Musk? Mike Flynn? Alex Jones? Tucker Carlson (who admitted in his lawsuit that his news show was merely “entertainment”)? Ted Cruz? Kari Lake? … Now look how many people tried to work within Trump’s first administration because they were legitimate conservatives and were expelled from his orbit when they were either exposed for being unqualified or else weren’t willing to sell out their country for a conman. That is a very long list (https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/list-officials-left-trump-administration/story?id=49334453). Heck, you don’t need to look much further than Mike Pence, Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney.

Just ask yourself: Do you know more about what’s going on (sitting there on the farm, reading your conspiracy theories) than THEY do? My opinions are formed by the facts, my own impressions of Trump, and by the testimony and statements of people that, by virtue of what they have done previously in their careers, have proven themselves to be credible people. How arrogant you must be to think that you have some special insight into “the truth” based on no factual evidence whatsoever. You apparently think people like John Kelly and Cassidy Hutchinson–who worked alongside the man–are somehow “wrong” about him, but only you know the real truth. Do you realize just how crazy that sounds?

A few more examples that the GOP must consider “leaders of the party” because they are featured speakers at the convention: https://popular.info/p/these-republicans-use-violent-rhetoric?r=1zr8b&utm_medium=ios&fbclid=IwY2xjawEDeFFleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHaGlodu9j7CiwIdwbUHzu4jcNHmCh66roZCYP_xg-JDwJF3VDXimezzmug_aem_51hJduGSbtCp4QAYp2JXsw&triedRedirect=true
