Bluegrass Serenade

I decided to have a little fun today. Fun for me anyway, since it doesn’t involve politics, chickens, dogs, kittens, haybales, rain or wind. I am dying to go see my new granddaughter but that has to wait a few weeks.

A few days back a friend posted a video of a bluegrass band performing the Christmas song “Angels We Have Heard on High“. My reply was that they can bluegrass almost any song and I am liking and appreciating those performers skills the more I listen with a preset in my truck to the Sirius Bluegrass channel.

The musicianship of some of these folk is astounding!

And since we are now living smack dab in the middle of hillbilly territory, I’ll leave it to the masters of the genre to tell that story – which is the reverse of our story.

But, did you know a vast number of popular songs have also been bluegrassed?

Below, I’ve compiled a list of some popular songs you very likely have heard played on the radio over the past 40 years in a way you’ve never heard them before. In listing them, I’ll include the song title as well as the artists who performed the original hits. You’ll see the artists performing them now as you view each one. Sit back and give them a listen and let me know what you think.

Sorted by (original) Artist/Song. Also noted are “live” performances where you can watch them play, as well as just “audio” w/lyrics, plus a few “instrumentals” as well w/no lyrics.

Here are a few more that aren’t really much different in their bluegrass outfits than they were originally.

I close with one of my favorite renditions of one of the most famous bluegrass songs of all time – that is a hit on its own standing. This star-studded lineup performs it with the master who started it all.

Just a few notes about this piece. Steve Martin disclosed he was petrified with performing with this group. But, he actually did quite well and you could see his immense relief when he made it through his solo. Marty Stuart got his start as a 15 year old musician with Flatt and Scruggs before he launched his own career years later so he was more than familiar with all of them. Paul Shaffer is,… well,… Paul Shaffer. I just hope he has a good chiropractor.

A Day on the Roller Coaster

What a roller coaster of a day!!!

It started with anger at the pardoning news.

Although I was disgusted, it was totally expected and am really only annoyed at those who continue to be OK with the daily BS we are fed and expect the rest of us to also happily swallow it without question.

From there it turned to alarm

as we learned mid morning that our daughter was being rushed to the hospital with late term pregnancy complications. We were somewhat prepared for such news but still set off a desperate scramble for Sherry to rush north to MN (a 10+ hour drive) around noon, while the roads in northern MO were still covered in snow. I had to remain behind to stay with the animals – which is the worst feeling ever.

Feeling that helplessness, I asked many for prayers today for all 3 souls involved (mother, baby and grandmother). My sibs, our other 2 kids, our church, a few local friends were all asked to pray hard today. They ALL came through!

At last, it was time for some joy and gratitude.

After an afternoon on pins and needles, about 3:30, I received a text from our daughter announcing our newest granddaughter had entered the world at a whopping 4 lbs/1 oz. She is tiny but she is a fighter. Both mother and baby are doing pretty well now, although they aren’t out of the woods quite yet.

I was still concerned with Sherry meandering her way north. Luckily, she had a “go bag” already packed and was ready to leap when needed but it was still a sudden departure for such a long journey. Add to that, she’s not a comfortable night time driver and half of this trip would be in the dark. I had calculated that she could make Ottumwa (half way) by sundown and the roads are considerably better the rest of the way but just wasn’t sure how much the snow may have slowed down her progress in Missouri.

And finally, some relief.

Finally, she called at about 7:45pm to let me know she just cleared Des Moines and was on I-35 heading north. That was a HUGE relief as that final leg is easy lighted freeway AND she sounded upbeat and excited to see the baby so I hoped the adrenalin will keep her going and all the prayers would keep her safe for about 4 more hours.

I only needed to wait for her text that she arrived safely around midnight and looked forward to some good sleep. That text never arrived so it was a bit of a restless night but woke up to her email explaining her phone died and she safely arrived at 11:15 last night after a smooth trip. Other than needing to replace her phone, which was garbage anyway, everything went off without a hitch. God is good!

Now, what am I going to eat?

Ummm, not quite. Is anyone still surprised at this point?

Now that the pardon has been announced, let’s just look forward to when Hunter and any others to follow start singing like canaries.

Democrats are corrupt to the core and the voters who supported them are exposed as being out of touch with reality more with each passing day.

Try to make it through this menagerie of hypocrisy (below) to the end and count how many times they reaffirm how superior they are over Trump, Republicans and their voters because they are so truthful and always follow the rule of law:

In the clip, I counted 19 instances where they brought up the contrast (key word of the day) between the noble, rule-of-law adherence of Saint Biden, compared to the disgruntled threats to democracy of Trump. I can understand Biden’s change of heart – except that he always intended to do so and continued to lie about it.

But, what I find completely nauseating is the media’s constant, holier-than-thou superiority complex on any topic before them – that always crashes in flames. Yet they keep it up thinking people still listen to them.

Of course, their solution is to simply deny that Biden lied and all of their faithful unthinking drones will eagerly nod along in agreement – while once again belittling anyone who does not follow along. It is getting exceedingly tiresome.

Charlamagne tha God explains from his recent appearance on The View:

“I think all of the criticism is valid because Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time and, you know, they act so self-righteous, with their holier-than-thou rhetoric. They’re the ones that go out there and they stand on moral high ground. They don’t have to do that.”

Actually, I’ve changed my mind, Trump should go after and jail each and every one of these admitted hypocrites.

The president has discussed pardoning his son with some of his closest aides at least since Hunter Biden’s conviction in June, said two people with direct knowledge of the discussions about the matter. They said it was decided at the time that he would publicly say he would not pardon his son even though doing so remained on the table. – NBC

SO, it was a conscious decision to BS the public and even those “in the know” are admitting it. He knew it could hurt his reelection chances, so they decided he would simply lie rather than admit what was happening behind the scenes.

With that, let’s recall this tasty quote from 2018 that will soon be buried – because that’s what they do:

“The Congress ought to know whether the president is using the pardon power to obstruct justice. The American people have a right to know. This legislation is clearly constitutional. It doesn’t prohibit him from granting a pardon, even a pardon he shouldn’t grant, but it does say we will be able to at least find out whether the president is using this power to shield himself from liability and offers transparency, at the very least.” – Adam Schiff

And now, after preemptively pardoning the rest of his crime syndicate, the flaming hypocrisy reappears. Review, what these same deranged experts were saying 4 years ago, when Trump DIDN’T pardon his family and individuals as they are projecting – while Biden clearly had no such reservations.

Open "Resurfaced Media Talking Points That They May Regret Now" directly

Hypocrisy and dishonesty are the only constants with liberals. If they didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all. Regardless of their flaming hypocrisy, this action prompts 2 concerns:

  1. The pardon covers a wide sweeping smorgasbord of criminal activity going back 11 years – crimes already charged and convicted, but also anything not yet discovered. What else are they hiding besides sloppy Joe’s involvement in the schemes?
  2. Why now? We all knew it was coming but I would have expected it to happen in January – much closer to the end of his term. Was this a trial balloon for dozens of other deep state offenders who are staring down well deserved justice under the new administration? Will we see a daily deluge of additional sweeping pardons for all of those bad actors who got off scot free? In doing so, he’ll blame Trump for having to do it. He’ll claim that because Trump wants “retribution,” he has to pardon people (and himself) to protect them and the country from such evil. It’ll be for our own good, he’ll tell us, for the good of the nation, to stop Trump and protect democracy.

    I guess executing it now stops Hunters sentencing coming up in a week or so, but it also exposes a flaw in their plan.

    With the pardon end date of 12/1, anything that happens from now on is fully chargeable and with the expected inquiries and congressional investigations of their misdeeds not even starting yet, they may have miscalculated. As Mike Davis mentions above, any of those pardoned will still be obligated to appear and testify. They may not be charged for the crimes they committed previously, but those crimes will still be investigated and they can be convicted for contempt, perjury, and numerous other offenses they commit during those proceedings. After seeing grandmas sentenced to prison for touring the capital, you can be damn sure each and every offense will be rung all the way through the wringer. And sloppy Joe will be out of office and powerless to stop them by then.

Can you imagine how that scenario will play out? All those pardoned will be mandated to appear and testify. They cannot plead the 5th. They can’t be charged for their crimes but they will need to reveal the truth or face the consequences, which will surely be imprisonment – just like it was for Bannon and Navarro and wasn’t for Hunter and others with a (D) by their name who committed the exact same offenses.

In the end, this is just the icing on the cake. The best takeaway?

Joe Biden is leaving office making the strongest possible case for Donald Trump that anybody could possibly make it, and that’s that our government and our justice system is of, by, and for the elites and nobody else. He ran to banish Trumpism from our political system in this country and he has left it politically and now institutionally the strongest possible political force in this country. It is a complete and utter failure by the President of the United States, the Democratic party and those that continue to support them.

Now, where is the NYT article supporting pollster Anne Selzer for being absolutely right about her late breaking Iowa poll showing Harris ahead of Trump by 3 points? (Trump won by 13 points). After all she would have been dead on accurate other than Trump received 219,717 more votes than Harris.

A Winning Coalition

I’ve been mocked, ridiculed and insulted here for months. I guess it’s that treasured education that has made them so perceptive that they picked up that I am a hetero-white guy in flyover land that is the root of all evil, and I just cost them the election.

  • there’s no other explanation than plain old white (male) supremacy.
  • What a pathetic, angry and unChristian narrative you’re embracing.
  • Do you know more about what’s going on (sitting there on the farm, reading your conspiracy theories) than THEY do? My opinions are formed by facts.
  • These nazi cowards are the foundation of the current GOP. By not denouncing them, and by undermining the candidate that is actually trying to quash fascism, THIS is what you’re enabling.

It’s just too bad those facts get in their way this time. Nearly one in five Trump voters were black, Latino, Native American, or “people of color.”

After all the votes are counted, Trump will likely have won the largest share of the nonwhite vote of any Republican presidential candidate since at least Gerald Ford in 1976, if not Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1960. He won between 25 and 30 percent of the Black male vote nationwide, doubling his share from 2020 in some states. He won 45 percent of the Hispanic vote and an outright majority of Hispanic men. He won the largest share of the Jewish vote since the 1980s, while also simultaneously increasing his share of the Arab American vote. And Trump performed better in major cities across this nation.

You have to go back to before the Civil Rights Act to see a more diverse Republican coalition.

Once again, most of the pollsters and pundits underestimated Donald Trump. The fact that he notched not just a resounding Electoral College win but apparently a clear popular vote victory, too, is remarkable, particularly given how he broadened his coalition to be far more multiethnic than it was in 2016 and 2020.

And here is yet another demographic that came through.

So why did I vote for Trump? It’s very simple. I’m in the stage of my life where I have one child in college, and my other two will be following, which will see my family paying for college for the next twelve years without a break. 

Mr. Fox and I have aging parents who need extra attention and care. This means expensive flights, travel expenses, care expenses, and more. And when the government decides to let inflation get so wildly out of control that our higher-than-average salaries are strained by buying a week’s worth of groceries, and we have a month where we’ve accidentally overdrawn our account for the first time in a decade, and we watched the American government turn into Soviet-style thugs who physically harmed our children by unnecessarily locking them down, destroying two years of their lives, forcing them to wear masks, forcing people to get vaccines they didn’t want, and then the state of New York broke down someone’s door and executed their pet squirrel and raccoon… brother, it’s war.

FDA’s war on public health is about to end.

Many of us were irritated to see the abuses of the public health authorities by laser-focusing on the COVID-19 injections/lockdowns/masking regime, and understandably so. But their corruption and criminality runs far, far darker and deeper than just pimping pharmaceutical products that don’t work, killing/maiming people, shuttering schools, and using the public health façade to mask their enormous wealth generation schemes.

“Sunshine” is a wonderful thing. They don’t even need to gut the FDA, (although I wouldn’t mind), but illuminating their crooked deals with some of that sunshine would do wonders to sway the non-believers.

Unless of course you are fine with sky-rocketing diabetes and obesity rates.

The big hitters under the HHS umbrella that I look forward to facing justice are:

  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • National Institute of Health (NIH)

This doctor (below) has opened my eyes to the corruption in the medical industry. I stumbled upon him while researching hypertension medication, which I reluctantly began taking several years ago at the direction of my cardiologist.

Those same cardiologists told me I was just a year away from needing a heart valve replacement and the BP meds would get me down to a better zone in preparation for that surgery. Now 6 years later, nothing has changed. I am no closer to needing surgery than I was when I was forced to deal with them due to my Commercial Drivers License. If anything, my heart condition is much better as I quit smoking and have been much healthier since the move to the farm. They STILL have me on the meds though – and likely forever.

Anyway, he had some very interesting things to say about RFK Jr’s appointment. And all of them rang true with me.

We are now in the late stages of the Democrats’ ill-conceived attempt to win with a deeply unpopular and incompetent candidate who never received any primary votes. The October Surprise is that (shockingly!) after nine years of facing Donald Trump, the Democratic Party has no real surprises, as well as no real plans.

Instead, they (once again) play the only card that their demented desperation can conjure up, HITLER!

To put this into perspective, Democrats have called every Republican candidate since 1964 “Fascist” or “Hitler”. Yup, besides Trump/Vance, Trump/Pence, Romney/Ryan, McCain/Palin, Bush/Cheney, Dole/Kemp, Bush/Quayle, Reagan/Bush, Ford/Dole, Nixon/Agnew and all the way back to the Goldwater/Miller ticket, that accusation is automatic.
If you have the “R” next to your name, you are Hitler.

The ball got rolling a few days ago with none other than Hillary, who still cannot comprehend that calling (more than) half the voters Nazi’s isn’t much different (or better) than the “basket of deplorables” utterance from 2016.

Yes, in addition to calling Trump a Nazi, she extended that to include anyone who attends the rally automatically earning the label as well. Her twisted logic is that because he booked Madison Square Garden for the event, he most certainly is recreating and re-enacting the Nazi rally there from 1939. I guess she forgot that it is the very building where her husband accepted the DNC nomination for president.

Soon after, the meticulously crafted and researched narrative had been thoroughly distributed and we began to hear and see the Hiltler/Nazi accusations fly in from all directions. For cackling Kamala, Hitler wasn’t enough BANG so they expanded it to be “literally Hitler” or for others the entire smorgasbord of “Hitler/Stalin/Mussolini” was piled onto the plate.

What makes this truly comical isn’t the fact that they’ve tried this several times, and failed miserably each and every time. No, what truly illustrates their derangement is that way back in early July, the Babylon Bee called them out for doing the very same thing. Now, nearly 4 months later, they use this same tactic AGAIN as their October Surprise in the closing days of the campaign.

As I’ve mentioned many times now, this has to be the easiest campaign to go up against, providing all of the soundbites and video needed for advertisements to defeat them absolutely free of charge.

This was at the now infamous Harris rally in Houston, where they packed the stadium (to show how popular she is) by promising a free Beyonce concert. They were quick to share pics and videos of the raucous crowd before the festivities began. However, Beyonce merely spoke for a few minutes and never performed. The crowd erupted in unruly boos, taunts, brawls and utter disgust at being deceived. Certainly behavior never seen at a Trump rally – even though they are filled with Nazi’s.

It was a long time coming but am now thankful and appreciative they are soon to be officially irrelevant – other than the damage, destruction, mayhem and chaos they’ll be inflicting on everyone in the coming weeks, simply because they didn’t get what they wanted. A growing majority are now wise to their game, are tired of being insulted and no longer wish to be referred to as “low information” voters.

And with everyone fleeing, they resort to intimidation and threats. Surprised?



Let’s see, how was I schooled on her support?

“she literally has more support and endorsements (in less than a week) than any other candidate has ever had–ever. Your gullibility in believing lies you’re fed is absolutely astounding. I talk to other Democrats all the time and let me assure you, everyone I’ve talked to in the last week is absolutely unified, energized and thrilled that we finally have a candidate that can beat Trump by an even wider margin.”

Instead, I heard generic platitudes, things like “joy,” “respect,” and “integrity.” What does that even mean? “Let’s make the military the most lethal in the world.” I thought I was part of the anti-war party. I thought I was part of the party that fought for the underdog, that championed working people. When and how did we just become the party of academia, anemia, and affluence? Because that’s what we are right now.
