SYATP (See You At The Pole) is an event held annually around the country. The community is encouraged to gather around the students as they conduct a prayer service for our schools, state and the nation.

In this charged political climate, many communities have banned or cancelled the practice, requiring the event to be moved offsite, as I recall happening back in MN.

However, I am grateful to now be part of a community that still embraces traditional values and does not back down in the face of these assaults on our liberties. In a town of 500 souls, with zero bars but you are never more than a stone’s throw away from a church, I am not surprised.

The (obviously optional) event this morning was well attended with a large, diverse crowd of students (many more were inside the entrance that I couldn’t see). Joining them as well were many in the community to show their support. That made the group much too large to join hands ringing the pole as is often the case.

That’s a nice problem to have.
